Growing up in the California Bay Area I wouldn’t have thought that it would take moving to the East Coast and hanging out with a truly hip nun to find my passion.  But, that’s exactly what has happened.

While studying for my Interior Design Bachelor of Fine Arts at Buffalo, NY, I was introduced to the world of Fused and Leaded Glass.  Twice a week we were allowed to explore and create using glass.  The only restrictions to our creativity was time and a basic project parameter.  That course provided me with a freedom to explore and create in a way I never had before.  Needless to say, I was hooked.

As my Interior Design studies progressed, I would find any opportunity to utilize the glass studio to meet project requirements.  I went on to create an etched glass logo for a studio course, miniature Gothic window chess pieces for history of architecture, an abstracted glass panel to use in my furniture design final project and a 4-panel kiln-formed lamp shade for a lighting design course.

The turning point came in part due to an academic scholarship from The Stained Glass Association of America’s Stained Glass School.  They provided me with the funds to complete an independent study with Sister Ann Therese Kelly (the aforementioned "hip nun") over the summer, advancing my knowledge of both traditional stained glass and kiln formed glass art.  It was during this summer course that I made the realization that glass needed to play a stronger role in my future endeavors.

With graduation approaching, I’ve created IN-Fused Design as a way to balance both of my interests; Interior Design & Glass Art and I look forward to sharing my exploration of both with you.
